Pathetic.  What happened to that company?

Seriously! You could build a custom home in the time it takes Orbital Machine Works to produce a receiver hitch. I cant imagine why anyone would trade their frustration for the opportunity to do business with them? The owner lacks feck.

Toddy

I wasnt in a hurry for one, but the more time that I spend with my Casita, the more that I realize how handy it would be to me.
After the call today, and the more that I think on it, the more that I get to calling back and canceling the order. I can then go ahead and start calling some fabricators to see who would make one.

Well.  I could tell you the exact day that the company started to go downhill, but that could be considered bragging. So I'll leave it there.

Saw the country in a 2002 Bigfoot 17 - now sold.

Where is Jim now? Hiding in the UK until Covid passes.

Still no word.
It is going to probably cold and wet/snowy/icy when that hitch gets here. I hope there is at least one good day, so I can get it mounted.

I'd forget about doing business with Orbital Machine Works and Perfect Casita.   I figure they are vapor ware.    I'd cancel my order and go to a U-Haul outlet and have them install a proper frame mounted hitch.  I'd say it would be about the same amount of $$ and done in an hour or two and with much better results.  That is what they do every day.  Just don't let them sell and install an bumper hitch on your Casita.

Update:
I take my Casita to a guy that has a vehicle accessory company ( ... think pickup rig up operation) next week for him to take measurements. He said that he could build me a hitch and weld it all in. The only question that I have is: Do I put a heavier gauge bumper on there to replace the one that is there? Would that make it stronger or not?
.... ready to get on the road with the longer than before Casita! LOL

You may want to check various state laws on lighting.  Some states require lights on anything 24" past the lights on the vehicle.     I have a cargo carrier that mounts in my PU receiver and it has lights on it.

On the other hand, riding around with a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood and the tailgate down on my PU requires either a light or red flag.   However with the tailgate up and the same piece of plywood sticking out over the tailgate is legal.   Go figure.
