There's a thread about a warranty not being honored because of "abuse" on the other forum.

It's been stated that ANY charger left on an AGM battery will eventually cook it.

My only personal experience with AGM batteries is on my 06 Liberty CRD.

Liberty CRD's (diesels) came from the factory with an Optima Red Top AGM that failed early. I replaced it with a Sears P1 AGM 6 years ago after two Red Tops.

I noticed a big difference between the two, the full charge voltage on the Optima is several tenths lower and the P1 is the same as a wet cell battery.

I think the low maintenance of an AGM is more precise then people believe.

I did a lot of reading on the AGM batteries and although I didn't retain much of what I read there was one thing that stood out. They don't like being overcharged or having voltages applied over the rated voltages. Equalization would be a bad thing according to Trojan battery.  The Trojan battery website actually has lots of good information on batteries.

We purchased a Lifeline PGL-27T a little over a year ago.  It was $285 but we were willing to pay the price for a top rated battery because we don't like messing with the flooded batteries and opening that little compartment.  It's a pain!   I do have a four stage Power Max Boondocker Converter/Charger that I purchased from Randy at Best Converters and the literature states that this converter is safe for AGM batteries.  Since Randy told me that he helped write the Installation and Maintenance literature for this converter, I would think that he knows!

Here's the specs for the battery:

Nominal Voltage: 12V
Amp Hour Capacity @ 20 hr rate: 100 a/h
Reserve Capacity @ 25 amp discharge rate: 186 mins
BCI Group Size: 27
Marine Cranking Amps @ 32* F: 715 amps
Cold Cranking Amps @ 0* F: 575 amps
Weight: 65 lbs
Length: 13.09 in.
Width: 6.60 in.
Height: 9.25 in.
Terminal Type: heavy duty silicon-bronze marine terminals
Hardware: brass bolts and washers
