We ordered our 2011 SD with the vinyl flooring. I prefer it as it's much easier to clean (and keep clean). However, it IS cold in the middle of the night on that bathroom trip.
So I keep a long, narrow carpet runner in the camper. During the day it's rolled up and stores nicely under the bed (where it keeps the cat kennels for sliding foward if we're towing.)
At night, I unroll it. It fits perfectly in width in the aisle and comes to within a foot of the door into the bathroom. It's the perfect solution for us. And it was fairly inexpensive.

These are the voyages of the small ship, "Grus Egg".

Does the carpet on the floor have foam backing ?

Thanks

No foam backing, it appears to be glued directly to the fool without any backing. It is a thin layer of carpeting. It would be very challenging to pull up and others have warned against trying. We placed vinyl plank over carpeting in two Casitas and it worked out well. I have a friend that has placed Pergo over factory carpeting in multiple Casitas.

Clover, looks like you used a special tool in the photos you posted. Is it for cutting? We have decided to use the Armstrong planks - just need to decide on color. Thanks for posting all those great photos.

It was burrowed, it reminds me of a larger paper cutter, I don't know what the "official" name. We actually didn't use it too much. This vinyl plank flooring is easy to cut with a sharp box blade. We used a heat gun to soften it for cutting some of the tight spots, curves and cutting out the holes for the table cups.

Clover- Thanks for the quick response! We forgot to ask how many square feet of planks did it take? We just sold our beloved 16' SD and are planning to lay this flooring over the carpet in our new 17' SD. Can't wait!

I imagine there is a mathematic answer on the square feet. We used one box of the Armstrong vinyl plank and 3 planks out of a second box. I'll look in the morning at how many in a box. What I left is out in a dark storage building. It was real easy to work with to custom cut any corners or holes.

I bought a Casita that had had the floor carpet, bath and closet removed and the floor just painted. I put down a cork underpayment and then laminate flooring. It was very difficult in spots because the floor was not smooth or even and there were places where the interlock was hard to maintain. In the end I actually screwed down a length in the end that had been the washroom. It looks good but would have been easier over carpet.

Thanks Clover,

Now that I know a heat gun can be a hair dryer I can do this without needing new tools. Great info!
