My wife insisted that I fix the cabinet door over the fridge. Here's my solution:

I put a hatch spring on mine. It's nice to have both hands free when you are rummaging around in that cabinet.

Open the door and the spring stiffens up straight. Put your finger against the middle of it and it collapses.

I hadnt time to get mine out. Maybe one day.

 I've never seen a device like that.. does the spring always collapse in the same direction?

It will bend in whatever direction you push it. Installing it will require a small wooden "cube" to be mounted inside the cabinet along the cabinet wall, that the swivel base of the spring will attach to, in order to clear the side of the front opening.
