Those that have a sway bar does it bolted through the frame or is it secqured by a bracket?

Those that have a sway bar does it bolted through the frame or is it secqured by a bracket?
Mine is welded to the frame. The sway bar ball is mounted on a plate and the plate is then welded top and bottom to the frame. It is a 1999 17' SD and was that way when we purchased it some 10 years ago.
