Hello,
I bought an older 17 SD in January that I have been slowly checking out.
We have had an unusual amount of rain in the last week and half.
When I went to check the Casita today, the central part of the carpet was wet. It seemed to end a foot or two before the walls and seemed directly below the roof vent. This is the simple vent without any fan. The vent was completely closed during the storms.
No where on ceiling around the vent appeared to be wet.
Before purchasing, I had checked after a two day rain and it was all dry with no stains from previous leaks. Then I drive it 5 hours home.
Tomorrow Im going to use a large dehumidifier and it is scheduled to rain so I will be there to observe.
Any ideas or experiences that you would like to share?

Was it vertical rain or horizontal rain? Could it have blown in the refrigerator vents?

I had a problem with the stove exhaust vent leaking on Annie when I brought her home.  Same wet floor below the roof vent and in front of the door by the sink.  I didn't find the leak until I had taken the range hood out to put up the backsplash.  I replaced the vent and used silicon to seal it up, and I haven't had any more leaking.

Or the refrigerator drain could be blocked...

Our roof vent leaks a little at times.  It's not as serious as your leak but the ceiling around the vent does not get wet, just drips onto the floor.  We don't get much rain where we camp.  I think it's the weatherstriping in the vent that is bent a little so the seal isn't perfect.

 

Since you have an older Casita, I would check all rivets and vents to see if the sealant is tight.  As the trailer ages, the sealant can shrink and pull loose.  It's just part of regular maintenance that should be taken care of as needed but yours may have been neglected for a time..

If it is the frig vent....there is a great solution already out there on one of these threads with pictures....I had a frig vent leak with similar results....bought some flashing....installed it behind the vents....haven't had the problem occur.  We get lots of rain...close to 100 inches per year....the flashing resolved the problem.     Good luck and safe travels.

Thanks guys/gals for the info. It was the stove exhaust vent. I had undone the tiny levers on the outside of the vent, that keeps it closed.

I used a dehumidifier to dry it out.

I had already planned to replace the carpet with plastic faux
