Hi-

Thinking about going to Quartzite Rally  this year.  We've never been.  Anyone going who'd like to share a little info?

Thanks,

Janet

janet, i boondocked for nearly 6 weeks in quartzsite this past winter. Literally, the whole place is a mecca for full time rvers, everything is geared toward supporting the rvs. you can buy solar/generators/get rv work done, water/dump places, fast food/some restaurants, lots of flea markets.a rv show, gem shows, there are also rv parks with hookups,if desired, laundromats, etc.it is desert, some people love love love it, others not so much. definitely do it at least once in your life. don't worry, our trailers are well designed for the boondocking experience out there.

btw, you might want to edit your title to Quartzsite Rally, 2018 as this is not really a ":casita rally", it is actually a fiberglass rally. you might get more helpful information. safe travels.............................

We attended last year for the first time. I added the location on Google maps as "Dome Rock BLM upper campsite" so you can see exactly where the fiberglass campers gather the week following Superbowl. We watched the Superbowl at a local full service campground and refreshed our supplies and emptied our tanks before heading to Quartzsite the next day for the week. Lots of fun there with fellow campers and visiting the town of Quartzsite.

Thanks Claire - i've edited my title/post - it was a good idea.

Janet

Also, thanks RADAR 1 for the Dome Rock BLM info - that should be very helpful.

If you will be attending the Quartzsite rally my advice is stay reasonably sober.  I went two years ago for the first time, had a couple of glasses of wine  and had a heck of a time finding my Casita amongst 160 Casitas clumped together. Plus other fiberglass trailers, Scamps, Escapes, Olivers and a few others whose pedigree has been lost in history.  I found mine by knowing a brown little Burro trailer was behind me. I aimed for that 13ft and turned right.

It's a lot of fun. Solar or generator will extend you're boon docking time as you well might know.

Hope to attend again this February.

Cheers,

Hi Dutchman,

Thanks for the photos - I can see what you mean about getting lost.  We bought a little Honda generator this year.  Hope that does the trick.  Any idea who the coordinator is for the rally?  I'm sure I'll have questions as the time gets closer.

Thanks,

Janet

Greg is hosting, and has already posted the 2018 information at the Scamp International Forum, at the Casita Travel Trailer Forum and at the Escape Forum. I suspect he will also post at other forums as time goes by or you can check the linked forums for information.

I have a page of photos of the 2017 (as well as linked to older Quartzsite rallies) here.

If you have questions about Quartzsite itself, feel free to contact me.  I'm here for the winter at the Long Term Visitor Area (although this weekend I'm at the Scamp Camp Southwest at Sedona).

Love that Scamp camp west.  Jon, say hello to Greg for me and I'l see you both at Q.  i would have been there this year but Cindy had jury duty.  Be sure to see the Christmas show and music.  Gosh I wish we were there!
