Grab a space as fast as possible.  I discovered Big Bend fills quickly during Spring Break.  Last year around this time I spent a week at Rio Grand Village & 3 days at Chisos Basin. This fall I stayed at Rio Grand Village & Cottonwood.  Cottonwood is no reservations, but a long way from anything, including the internet!

If you stay at Rio Grand Village, take the "Ferry" to Mexico for lunch!  Have a great time!

Is Victor still running the ferry at Boquillas Canyon?

The fact that Cottonwood is far from everywhere makes it such a nice place.  No campground lights, dark i.e. you'll see lots of stars. No generators allowed, super quiet.  Last time I was there I came face to face with a badger near the river. We tried to outstare each other. Knowing how mean they can be I quietly backpedaled.
