It's funny, in that for all the countless propane tanks that I've had filled over these many years, I can't remember ever once seeing the "pump jockey" anywhere I've been, actually check a date on any tank I've ever had filled. Maybe I'm just luckier than most folks.

Well the "pump jockey" at our local propane place - a real "propane only" place - not only looked at the date on one of mine - he also recertified it on the spot for free.

Same here, Euphoria, the times we've had to refill propane tanks, it's usually at a place where the first guy who's not looking busy is tagged to come out and fill 'em up. I don't think I've ever seen them check the date.

Makes you wonder just how this 'certification' gig came about. Somehow I smell someone making money by making propane tanks require re-certification.  But then...I can be pretty cynical, these days.

I've just become a certified "pump jockey" for my part time job at an RV park. I went through looking at the dates on  6  20# tanks, 2 100# tanks and one 10# tanks. We have 2 of the 20# tanks that I use on a regular basis, one of which is on the Casita, they are out of date by 4 and 6 years.

I'll be rotating them out of my inventory once I use all of the propane currently in them.
