Unless someone has removed it, the short answer is NO. As far as I know, the factory won't even sell a 17' trailer without the A/C unit. To this day, I've never seen one without it.

Now the later models starting I think at the end of 2013, (not sure of that) the Coleman Mach 8 A/C's were installed.  They are a low profile unit.  If you let us know the maximum height of for your storage area we can come up with some numbers for you.

Jean,

They do exist.  I cannot speak for the newer 17' Casitas but I have had front AC's on both of my Casitas.  Both were purchased new, our 1st was a 1999, currently we have a 2005.  Our garage has a 8' door but a 17' Casita with roof AC would not fit so I requested the front AC both times - Casita installed it with no problem.  Since the roof AC is included in the price, we had to pay extra for the front installation. I forget how much but it was worth it to us.

Before buying in 2005, it had been posted here that Casita would not build a 17' with front AC.  Perhaps they did for us because we were return customers and it would have been a deal breaker otherwise.  I don't know.

BTW, our garage door is exactly 8' tall when opened all the way, with the overhead door rolled back behind the header.  The Fantastic Fan clears the opening by about one inch.  A bit more clearance could be gained by letting some air out of the tires but we haven't had to do that.

PS: we do not have the high lift axle.

When I ordered my 2009 17SD from Casita, they would not honor my request for a front A/C. They stated the 17 requires the roof A/C due to much better cooling capacity in the 17's.  The 13s and 16s were still available with the front A/C.

I think the roof AC would certainly cool better but where we camp an AC is seldom required.  In fact, we have only used ours a few times.

I'm pretty sure Casita would rather not get into special orders that slow the production line.  Leaving the roof AC off doesn't seem like it would be much trouble but adding the front AC requires a totally different procedure.  They might have to leave the 17' half finished until work starts again on the 13 - 16's to add the AC in the front.
