Welcome to the April / May 2016 Installment of our Casita Club Monthly Photography Contest!  I'm extending this for two months, so those that go to the Bluebonnet Rally can include their pictures.

This month's subject is:

"Spring Has Sprung"

The images posted must include something related to Spring.  It would be great if you included your Casita Trailer as well, but is not required.  Your photo should be from Spring, and can include things like flowers, or other things that reflect springtime.

Please read the rules and requests below, then post up your image in this thread!

The winner of this month's contest will receive a $25.00 gift card to Amazon and one short-sleeve Casita Club T-Shirt with a back print.

Feel free to post comments in this thread as well!

Here is a video tutorial on how to upload an image to your post:

----------

The rules are quite simple and may change depending on the month and subject.

General Rules:

1)  Any photographs submitted must be owned by the member submitting the image and only one image per contest can be submitted per member.  HDR images are allowed.

2)  Images should be a minimum of 650 pixels on the longest side, if possible.

3)  The winning image may be re-posted on the front page, after the approval from the owner of the image.

4)  Submissions to the Monthly Photography Contest may begin after the monthly topic has been posted, until the end of the month.  Submissions must be either uploaded to The Casita Club Forums, or embedded from an outside website by the owner of the image.  No outside text links to images will be allowed.

5)  All submissions will be listed and voted on by The Casita Club membership at the end of the month.

6)  The winner of the monthly contest will receive a prize to be determined by The Casita Club and listed within the monthly topic thread.

7)  In order to give more people a chance at winning, individual members can only win once every 3 months.

8)  The winning images will be included in a **once-a-year prize**, to be determined by The Casita Club and listed within the separate quarterly voting thread. (this was changed on 10/01/2014)

9)  The Casita Club, or anyone associated with the owners of the CasitaClub.com website do not and will not claim any type of ownership or license of any images or photographs submitted to The Casita Club Forums.  Eric Mayer will be able to submit an image, but that image will not be included in the monthly votes.

Contest Requests:

I would love for folks to learn from the photographs posted here.  So, as much information as can be provided would be appreciated.  This includes some background information about the photograph, your camera, lens and settings, as well as any other information you feel would be beneficial.

Good luck to anyone who enters!  Feel free to ask any questions in this thread:  http://www.casitaclu...-photo-contest/

Spring in the Yosemite Valley. The melting snowpack from this winter's El Niño sent water gushing through Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls. 👍

This is one of several Rock Daphnes,, blooming in my backyard. Daphne is a fiendishly fickle plant to grow, let alone prosper. Don't prune it, touch it, feed it, mulch it, don't mess with it. It doesn't want rich soil, this one in particular is growing in almost straight sand. It will root rot in a minute if the soil is too rich.   When you plant it, stomp soil over the roots and leave it alone. If you are lucky, it will reward you with the most incredible scent and lovely blooms.

Since purchasing our Casita 9 years ago along with the rains and Texas Bluebonnets came spring and new camping adventures.

A few later came our first experience at  THE RALLY! Where we enjoy fellowship with many of our friends

Our experience has been with the Bandera, TX  location. That gives us 250 miles of driving through the Texas Hill County to take in lots of wild flowers.

Missing a few of the stickers! The pup loves stickers

This just in... (Literally-- pic made just minutes before posting.)

Spring means muley yearlings hanging around the place, having been run off by their moms who are busy taking care of new-borns and have no time for their foolishness. They are fuzzy coming out of winter. Coming out? Maybe. It was sleeting when I took the snap from my front deck. We've been having cold, wet, easterly winds and they have taken to sheltering on the west side of the house.

Love the photos!!

Captured this (and several others) May 21 at the boat launch at the Gulf at Yankeetown, FL

Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 24-105 f 4.0 L IS lens. Settings: manual focus, f 4.0, set on Bulb (I held the cable release down until I got some lightning or until about 7 or 8 sec. then released it and  held it down again). ISO was about 200 or 250.

Because it was also a full moon night there were very few stars to be seen. We watched the show across the water to the north for over an hour. Ideal setting, nice wind to keep the bugs away but it was warm enough to be very comfortable.

More images on my blog.
