i'm investigating different musical instruments to carry in the casita. have considered a dulcimer, ukelele, guitar but wondering if the weather/humidity changes we experience in the outdoors might be harmful to these instruments or if others have found them too big for the confines of the casita.

i ordered a clarke celtic penny whistle on amazon yesterday after hearing how they sound on youtube. thought it would be relatively easy to learn to play and take up no space in the trailer.

any musicians out there care to share experiences with your instrument of choice and how it works out on the road? happy camping to all, claire and merlin, excellent schnoodle

My didgeridoo does just fine in the Casita.  I mount it on the ceiling along with some fishing poles with some fabric hooks and bungee cords.   Like all wood instruments it depends highly on age and cost if you want to worry about it and  have one of the last stradivarius no I wouldn't leave it in the casita to bake in the sun.   But most wood instruments are so treated and sealed today it would have to be REALLY WET and REALLY HOT to become an issue.

Not much else to say, I'm in the hippie scene drum circles and such so sometimes a Djembe will come with me and fits in the truck better.

It takes a little getting used to, but I enjoy playing my tiny Martin Backpacker.

I take a harmonica. When the dogs misbehave I take it out and they cringe and promise to be good.

And to CFF, just as a point of information-- I have never had ANYTHING 'bake' in the Casita. Even in the hottest sun, opening the fan vent (maybe even using the fan) makes the inside of the Casita many degrees cooler than the outside temp, whatever it is. It's one of the many wonderful features of the Casita. If I have to do an errand when we are on the road, the dogs stay cool and comfy in OTRA instead of 'baking' in the truck. And now back to our scheduled programming...

Yep......I also take a Martin Backpacker.  Good little travel guitar.  Action isn't great and sound is just OK but for the campground......it works well.  Sat on a lot of beaches and many mountains with that little guitar.....pretty fun.

Mountain dulcimer
Uke
Penny whistle
Harmonica
Tenor guitar
Tenor banjo
Strumstick

Lol.we use our Casita to hit all the Old Time Music Festivals so we take everything. . Low humidity is more of a problem so if you going to Alaska that may be a concern but unlikely.

I've been thinking about taking my Scottish Smallpipes with me. They are kinda like smaller bagpipes but I still probably couldn't play them if parked near anybody.😫

Full size guitar and mandolin. Folks in campgrounds don't mind. People actually making their own music is a rare sight these days. We generally keep the instruments in the back seat of the truck at night.
