Well, folks... it's official! I've been spending most of my time in my little (but mighty!) Patriot and many of you know that I decided to give up my 2-bedroom apartment in Santa Monica for a life on the road. As of a couple days ago, that lease officially ended and I am now heading full-force into this new life! I am lucky enough to have a job that allows me to work as I travel and also have a little house in the desert that I will use from time to time when needed. I am doing sort of a video diary to document this experience and figured I'd share it with you all. I'm not a blogger or writer or anything like that, so these will mainly just be quick little snippets to keep my family, friends and acquaintances in the loop.

I'm looking forward to this new life and to sharing my journey with the fine folks in the Casita community! And, of course, any tips from you full-timers are greatly appreciated! Here's the video from morning one!

You seem to have a lot of background noise on your video. It sounds like a stiff breeze blowing across the microphone, but I didn't see much movement on the shrubs in the background. Anyway, it makes it hard to hear what you're saying. Just feedback info.

You might want to keep a blog anyway. They're fairly simple to set up and are usually free, if you're not insistent on owning your own domain. Google has one called Blogger. Another one is Wordpress. Both are simple to use, however, Wordpress is in the habit of changing things around just as you're getting used to using it.

Good luck. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Thanks, everyone! I'll try to update when I can. Like I said, these aren't pro they're mainly for my mom, haha. But hopefully other people enjoy them too. I will see what I can do to make background noise and shakiness less present, I appreciate the feedback, Greg! And I will look into a blog... I've never really thought about it too much.... I always kinda considered the forums my blog! But I'll check out your recommendations. I may start an instagram though. You know.... a picture speaks a thousand words kinda thing!

Ok... off to make some coffee! Thanks for the replies!

Finally got a chance to watch your video on my home computer and dig your campsite. My only request would be I have to have a shade tree to sit under. At this stage of my life it is desirable to stay out of the sun as much as possible. Ha!

I didn't find the wind noise to be excessive or distracting. You are on the beach after all. Furthermore, I like what you are doing. It is unique, much like your adventure. I would much prefer sitting in my camp chair enjoying the view and the breeze than blogging about it on the internet. Just one more thing to complicate your life. Go live it and make the rest of us a bit envious!

A tiny piece of foam covering the mic will cut out that wind noise.

I've been looking all around on the map where your at and another campground close  to you also looks promising ....San Elijo Campground/Beach. Have you ever been there?

You can click on any of the campsite numbers and a good picture of it shows up

I've always liked the tide pools at Crystal Cove, never went up into the campground. Neat area.

I just realized crystal cove and Moro campground are both Laguna Beach. Looks very nice.

I know so little about California but i am definitely heading out that way this summer as it's only six hours from home:)

Nice pics, DesertHawk!

Todd - that's why I just got this new clam shelter! Between that and the Casita awning, I should have a fair amount of shade wherever I am. :) Glad you enjoyed the video!

Joe - San Elijo is nice. I will probably do a trip report from there eventually... but it's no Crystal Cove. If I had a choice, I'd go with Crystal Cove/Moro (same place, Moro is the name of the campground and Crystal Cove is the name of the park). If you camp at either, your camping pass gives you free access to visit the other. Happy planning! It will be a great trip!

Well, I put up another one! It's from my stay at Dockweiler RV Park... which is nice in some ways and not in others! I am currently using my cell phone for this and it's a little tough! Kind of shaky. But the next one will be a tour of my Casita and I have a good plan to make it more stable! Hopefully you guys still have fun watching me ramble!

Happy travels, all! :D

Is the beach always that...empty? That must be nice, despite the close quarters of the campground itself. Yeah, you're right, it is basically a parking lot. I don't think I'd mind the air traffic overhead.

Well, have a great time!

Much improved over your first Vlog. Sound was ten-fold better, especially filming on a cell phone, (even with the jet taking off. lol). Stay safe.

Thanks, Greg, I appreciate the feedback!

Meadowlark, it gets more crowded on the weekend afternoons but weekday mornings have all been nice and empty! Really peaceful way to enjoy the morning coffee. Glad you guys are enjoying the vids!
