Welcome to the November 2014 Installment of our Casita Club Monthly Photography Contest!

This month's subject is:

"Thankful"

The images posted must include something you are thankful for.  This can be friends, family, good health, great music, wonderful scenery; basically, anything that you are thankful for.

Please read the rules and requests below, then post up your image in this thread!

The winner of this month's contest will receive a $25.00 gift card to Amazon.com and one long-sleeve Casita Club Shirt with a back print.

Feel free to post comments in this thread as well!

----------

The rules are quite simple and may change depending on the month and subject.

General Rules:

1)  Any photographs submitted must be owned by the member submitting the image and only one image per contest can be submitted per member.  HDR images are allowed.

2)  Images should be a minimum of 650 pixels on the longest side, if possible.

3)  The winning image may be re-posted on the front page, after the approval from the owner of the image.

4)  Submissions to the Monthly Photography Contest may begin after the monthly topic has been posted, until the end of the month.  Submissions must be either uploaded to The Casita Club Forums, or embedded from an outside website by the owner of the image.  No outside text links to images will be allowed.

5)  All submissions will be listed and voted on by The Casita Club membership at the end of the month.

6)  The winner of the monthly contest will receive a prize to be determined by The Casita Club and listed within the monthly topic thread.

7)  In order to give more people a chance at winning, individual members can only win once every 6 months.

8)  The winning images will be included in a **once-a-year prize, to be determined by The Casita Club and listed within the separate quarterly voting thread. (this was changed on 10/01/2014)

9)  The Casita Club, or anyone associated with the owners of the CasitaClub.com website do not and will not claim any type of ownership or license of any images or photographs submitted to The Casita Club Forums.  Eric Mayer will be able to submit an image, but that image will not be included in the monthly votes.

Contest Requests:

I would love for folks to learn from the photographs posted here.  So, as much information as can be provided would be appreciated.  This includes some background information about the photograph, your camera, lens and settings, as well as any other information you feel would be beneficial.

Good luck to anyone who enters!  Feel free to ask any questions in this thread:  http://www.casitaclu...-photo-contest/

I am thankful for 37 years of Cindy enriching my life, marrying me and helping me to be a good father, husband and for all the great camping we have done together.

In my life I have much to be thankful for. One category very important to me is farm and ranch kids. Anyone “down on” modern youth should live among them for a while. You will change your mind in a hurry. Tough, resilient, hard-working, polite. They don’t quit and they don’t whine. They pull their end and then some. This lad is only eleven, but already a top-hand. He rides, ropes, and gets the job done. He gets thrown and gets right back on. He is unrelated to me, but I am thankful for him nevertheless. He gives me hope for our future.

I am thankful for my job.  As a Game Warden for the past 39 years I have had the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and work with wildlife in many different ways. Even though it is inherently a dangerous job going after poachers and having to protect our wild resources, there are times when the job is just plain fun.  This particular customer had been raiding garbage cans in a very populated neighborhood. When this shot was taken, he had been trapped and was sleeping off the drugs and later was released with an ear tag and a GPS collar.  Even though I obviously didn’t take the photo, it was taken with my camera.  That counts right??

Great picture!

I'll give a thumbs up to that observation about country kids. We live on a small ranch in a rural county, these kids have to help family with livestock and some farming. Having a livestock project for the county youth fair is a given for most in these parts. They spend their free time in the great outdoors.........riding, roping, fishing, hunting, swimming and exploring the local rivers..........far from Xboxes and cell phones.

I am thankful for God's Grace and Him giving me a son that I am humbled by. I pray to Him daily, "I need wisdom, please help me do the right things, say the right things and point him towards You!"

Growing up in the country is priceless for gaining a greater appreciation for nature and ALL outdoors!

Thank God for Texas!

I am thankful for windows, not the Windows installed on my computer, but the windows installed around my home, such as the window beside the desk where my computer (and I) sits. A look to my left at any time of the year gives me pleasure; Dogwood blossoms in spring, green trees and grass in summer, the colors of fall and bird activity at the feeder in winter. That bird activity is the reason for the protective netting over the window visible in this photograph.

I am very thankful that somebody takes the time to make roads in crazy places that allow me (and my lovely wife) to see so much more of the world.

I am thankful for those who gave us life, love, laughter, and values... I am thankful for my mother's kind - and able -hands.  I miss her so, but her memory lives in my grateful heart.
