Book early as there are alot of snow/winter birds in that area at the time of Mardi Gras.

May I recommend the Dellanera RV Park?  On previous trips, we've stayed at (1) the State Park (beach side), which is nice but over ten miles from Galveston... not the handiest if you are going to be spending much time in town for events or whatever;  Jamaica Beach RV park... OK for a commercial campground, but about the same distance from "downtown;" and (3) the city-owned Dellanera RV Park... by far our favorite, close to town with their own beach access.  The other RV parks in the area were less than appealing to us.

Have fun!  Reserve early!
