Hello Everyone,

We sold our 40' fifth wheel after full-timing for 4 years.  Never having RV'd before, we started our full time adventure from the Washington DC area and after being on the road for 4 years and visiting 49 states, settled in Green Valley, AZ.

We bought a 2011 Spirit Deluxe 17 this week and are preparing for a short stay in a local state park this week to practice setting up and getting organized.

We are looking forward to taking trips around the southwest. :dncinban:

Welcome to the forum.  There are several of us here who have downsized from large fifthwheels to Casitas.

We were told when we went from a 35ft 5er to a 17ft Casita that we were stepping up, not downsizing. After a year of using the Casita I think they were right.

Happy camping.

Congratulations on your new-to-you Casita.

Now that you've downsized, and when it comes time to wax the outside, you'll be in for a pleasant surprise  :dncinban:

Enjoy, and welcome to our growing fraternity.

Thanks for the nice welcome. We are camping for a few days at Catalana State Park, just north of Tucson. Making sure our new - to - us casita is operating fine before we head out for a 10 day trip next week. All systems are go -- 105 degrees and the A.C. is working better than the 2 we had in our 5th wheel. Love our little "Riglet".

We downsized from full-timing in a 40ft. Dutch Star!!  We find that we can now park in beautiful campsites, national parks, national forest and such with no problem!!!  We also find we can travel much further because we get more than 6 miles per gallon.  We can now "camp" when we go out.  You will be so glad you downsized to a Casita!!  Welcome!!!

Not down-sizing--right-sizing.

We did the same thing.  I like right sizing.  In Texas we found with a 5th wheel you were very limited to sites in state parks due to the size.  We are heading out on our maiden voyage this weekend.

Hello,

Welcome to this great Casita Club family. I just bought my Casita about 4 months ago and currently towing with and '06' Pathfinder and it has 6,000 lb tow capacity but it now has 248,000 miles on it (best car I have ever owned) and thinking about getting a new vehicle. Because of my career I was considering a van either a Sienna or Nissan Quest but the $3,500 lb towing capacity worries me that that's not enough. How does your Sienna do towing the Casita? I know one of the main draws to a Casita is it's light weight but with gear and other things you would be getting really close to 3,500 lbs and I have always been told it's not good long term to tow maximum capacity.

Safe travels and THANKS in advance for the info,

Steve

Hi David and Jo-Anna....welcome to the "family"!  We are new members also, as of March of this year.

My husband and I picked up our Liberty Deluxe from Rice on April 10th. I was pretty skeptical that we would EVER get one, mainly because my sweetie is a total Pickleball maniac!!! (haha). So needless to say, he spends a lot of time at the Rec Center.

Anyway...when I can drag him away from the gym, we are enjoying our Casita very much. We've taken three short trips to parks and visiting friends. We're taking our fourth trip next week to a State Park near Austin, TX with a group of RV friends.

This site and the wonderful people of Casita-Land (our newly found family) have been very helpful in answering any questions we had, and we had a lot, since we are new to the travel trailer world.

Happy camping to you! Safe travels!

Hope to see you around,

Judy & Ron
