Yes, so far the campground hosts have permitted us to do so.  That is the only way we can get all our group in as there are no reservations.  So far, so good.  So far I think Betsy and I are the only ones of any of our groups that have had to go to the designated "boon docking" site and we got a site the following morning.

Now is a good time to remind those who will be trickling in starting as early as Monday maybe.  Occupy the largest site available and each subsequent arrival occupy another large site and so on until all available sites are occupied.  Then meet later arrivals and invite them to share your site.  There are some sites that will accept three trailers and all TVs still be clear of the road.  This may call for sacrifice for the good or the group.  I mean sacrifice like passing up a shady spot for one in the sun or passing up the opportunity to share a campsite with your good buddy to obtain another double site.

The first three rigs on the roster below us are "old hands" and will help you set this all up.

BE NICE to the campground hosts.  They have a lot of latitude as to what they permit us to do - or not do.

Betsy and I are looking forward to meeting another group of great folks from around the country and showing them some places most visitors never see.  Don't be surprised if that would require getting just a little dust on your tow vehicle.

Like Tony the tiger would say... "That's GREAT!!! Err... or something like that! I just pulled into Cochiti Lake in Pena Blanca NM.Nice place overlooking the dam; plan on being here one night then moving NW to CO. I guess this drought is wreaking havoc everywhere; last three campsites have banned wood fires. Can't blame them. Looking forward to coming together as a group. I remember seeing something about a possible pot luck at the end of the tour... Has anyone else expressed interest in same? If so I'll sign up for spiced meat balls. Thoughts? BTW I have the t-shirts with me and they look wonderful. See you all soon.

Hi CIndy, right now I find myself in Farmington, NM. Spent the night in the Wally World Resort and it was not bad if I say so myself. I will be moving North West towards Moab today but have no particular plans. In fact I have no reservations or plans at all until my reservations take effectic in Moab on Monday. I will be looking along the away for a place to plug and sleep. I'm sure something will pop up. It would be my pleasure to show you my "vintange" Coach House who goes by the name of "Big Edna." I'll send you my cell via PM. Have a great day.

Shorty

As you go northwest from Farmington into AZ or UT you will find a plethora of interesting places to see and / or stay.  Monument Valley National Tribal Park is very  interesting with scenes you will recognize from dozens of western movies you may have seen years ago.  There are many state parks and small towns where you might like to stay.  Another place I really like is the campground in the Needles District of Canyonlands NP.

Glad you made it through the violent weather area.  Looking forward to meeting you and all the group.

Don

Don interesting is an understatement... However it's all good.

Day 7, I’m roughing it at a Flying J on the West Side of Albuquerque, NM (I-40 exit 153). Not much spectacular here. Clean, safe (?) and windy as all get up. Will post more tomorrow if I and the rig don’t get blown away….

Day 8 finds me at a Wally World resort in Farming, NM. Not bad. Clean, safe and quite. Had a great dinner at a local dinner called Dads Dinner and slept well. What a great meal 8oz steal, 2 beef enchilladas, rice, beans, salad, tortillas and iced tea for $9.75 (before tip).

Day 9 I'm at the Sleeping Ute Mountain RV Park. Showers and pool are down for maintenance, but I have water, electric, Cable and the worse WiFi I have ever seen. Oh well it's all good. Going to hit the Prime Beef Buffet at the Casino Restaurant and have $5.00 free play in my pocket.

Sunday I plan to arrive Moab, UT and try and checking in early, if not... who knows...  I'm sure I'll find a place to crash overnight. My reservations statr on Monday. In case I don't have connectivity on Sunday, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU MOMS OUT THERE. YOU'RE the best.

OK no more daily updates… Finally made it home. Big Edna performed like a champ! All I can say is that the trip was exhilarating and majestic. If you haven’t done it, it’s well worth the price of admission. One million pictures cannot do it justice. I’m glad I was fortunate enough to get on board. Don and Betsy did a great job of hosting this event. One more check of the bucket list.
