I think it would be simple to run.  Folks submit their best photo taken in that quarter and the entries are voted on at the end.  The top three go into a final vote for the winner.  With our printing capabilities, we have the ability to make some cool prizes from the winner's photo (assuming a good quality version is available).  If you are a winner, you can submit a photo to the next contests, but cannot win until the following year.

The only issue would be participation.  If we get enough people who are interested and who submit photos, we can have a great contest!

**Edit to add:  There is no fine print and at no time will anyone ask you to sign over the rights to your image, nor will we ever use your images without permission**

Please vote in the poll and let me know your thoughts!

Thanks!

I'll vote yes, but it would depend on the fine print. I would not like to sign the rights to my pictures over to someone just so I could enter their contest.

I would never ask you to sign over anything.  There is no fine print, just a fun contest for Casita Club Members.

I say open category, just to experience everyone's favorite theme!

I am terrible with a camera but would love to look at more photos by members and vote!

I would think you will eventually have to have categories, as was pointed out some folks on the forums have some real "killer" photography skills. Maybe an open category and another with a Casita in the photo (and NOT photo shopped into the picture).

No strings attached fun contest, I'm in for sure. I'd even go monthly. Just need a few ground rules like maximum size to post and only pictures taken during the contest period. Could be fun and open our eyes to some new camping areas.

Sounds like a fun event, and I would like to participate in such an endeavor, but I'm thinking that stretching it out to a "quarterly judging" may lead to lack of interest. If I can make a suggestion, maybe consider a monthly or even bi-weekly submission/judging, and have a rotating theme for each period, which would offer a challenge to produce a photo in one of several various rotating categories, much as is done in local photography clubs. I fear that extending it out for three months would cause many folks to lose interest. Just my 2 cents. I'm sure that a few basic ground rules will have to be put in place, but this is typical in most photography organizations and shouldn't present any difficulties. We can borrow the criteria from other successful existing clubs.

If we have enough interested, I would love to have a monthly contest.  Perhaps a small prize at the end of each month, then a larger one each quarter for the winners of the monthly contests?

Eric --

I like the idea a lot...

however, I have to agree with Euphoria about the frequency. Monthly may too often and unsustainable after the novelty wears off.

Also, I feel it would be a good idea to offer categories -- preferably those relating to camping or travel.

My two cents.

Eileen

Can't promise I'd submit monthly but I think it would be interesting. I agree with the rotating/variable subjects or categories. Monthly might be good to see what the reaction is? Quarterly might drag it out too much. I for one like to see quick results, give folks 3 months to submit and some will put it off and put it off then it is too late. Others may look see the photos and if they see the same ones 3 months later they will wonder what   have it 2 months max for submissions then a new category?  Maybe want to limit submissions to a max number per person. You could also have a category like DSLR or point & shoot once in a while.

Sounds like it could be fun and interesting. What if some months were an assignment like flowers or landscape or action etc.

I would definitely like there to be themes, some camping, some seasonal (ie: Spring = Flowers).

I think, based on the responses, it is a go.  I'll put together a thread and we will begin soon!

Thanks for everyone's input!
