just wanted to introduce myself to the group. after vicariously living your lives through this site, i finally took the plunge and drove to houston last saturday to purchase my first travel trailer, an unused 2013 patriot deluxe! to say i am thrilled is an understatement.
with the bitterly cold temperatures and bouts of rain/sleet i have only managed to get the electric going, but i'm sleeping in it every night since i got back with my darling 14 lb schnoodle, merlin. hoping to get everything filled and hooked up this weekend and really begin the learning process. i'm amazed at what i don't know and managed to drain the truck battery the first night back when i failed to unplug the pigtail. won't make that mistake again!
really looking forward to some trips when the weather turns to spring in a few weeks. any planned event or rally in texas anytime soon?

Welcome aboard Claire!

Sounds like your first mod should be a charge line relay installed in the tow to disconnect the battery. Newer ones with a trailer package usually have one; had to put one in my old Chevy myself after the same oops.

Hi Claire and congrats on your Patriot acquisition. These are some great trailers as your finding out. I pulled mine home from the factory, set it up, and during the night a cold and wet weather front moved in. I was so engrossed in reading the owners packet and reading for hours in this forum, that when I
finally went outside at 3 am in the morning, there was 4 inches of snow covering everything.
Not too many rallies underway right now, but there will be some when the weather gets warmer. There
will be posts about these rallies before they happen, stay tuned.

welcome to the club

Clare,
Welcome to the club. As Mark said there aren't any rallies now but look under "Upcoming rallies and go to the Bluebonnet rally in Bandera in April. There is a waiting list that you will need to sign up for but the last couple of years everyone on the waiting list came as there will be many cancellations as it gets closer. Have no idea where Corinth is but another option is to come for a day, wander around and introduce yourself. Congrats on the new adventure. As you have been lurking for a while you know about Arizona Eileen's DVD "The A-Z Owners Guide" by going to lovemycasita.com. Enjoy. Sandy

Welcome! We had a 25 pound Schnoodle called Schnoodles that was he alpha male and the center of our universe until his passing in 2010. Left a huge void in my life, but I got a Parti (Multi-colored, black and white) Schnauzer named Dakota. Some members have met us and camping with puppies is a natural thing and certainly wouldn't be the same without them.

how funny you should ask, john. i have named her "Sassie Cassie". my old reliable 1995 ford ranger xlt with 241,000 miles is "Earl". i may be replacing Earl this summer, if i start taking longer trips. thinking about a toyota tacoma, although my local mechanic assures me that Earl has many years left. we'll see. what;'s the name of your casita? claire

so nice you get to take dakota along. they add so much to the journey. bet dakota has the same personality of my merlin, eternally happy, energetic, playful, loving, good natured, smart as a whip. hope you're enjoying your travels, mark. claire and merlin, excellent schnoodle

thanks mark, i'll be looking out for rally info. there are some really nice camping places near here, as well, willow grove park in lake dallas, parks in hickory creek and grapevine. i plan to take some short trips to get adjusted to everything before venturing out too far. just wish the weather would cooperate a bit more. claire

Claire,

Any auto electric place or general auto repair shop could install the relay, pretty simple job. It's not a special part - doesn't require an RV dealership.

That is a good name. There is a link here on the site where you can add you Casita's name to the list.
We call ours "Casita Amorita" and I also refer to it as the "Moonlight Manor" when I go to star parties.

Hello there, Claire. I live in Centerville, Tx, and I was wondering if your 'Corinth' is the same little community between C'ville and Buffalo on Hwy 75? If not, I wasn't aware there was another.

Enjoy your Casita, and take care.
