Took our LD out for the first time this weekend. Went up north from Phoenix to Canyon Point... Beautiful campground northeast of Payson...in the tall pines and really enjoyed it! Rained the last night we were there....which made sitting inside watching a movie just perfect! Looking forward to our next getaway.

Green with envy. We will not get our LD until the end of Aug.

We looked for many months for the right one to come along....so it is worth the wait. We found one that was just barely over a year old...in perfect condition. We were amazed how quiet it is when you are inside. They are solid little units. Best of luck to both of you....this forum has been great to read and get ideas! Ruth

As Ruth noted, this forum is a great resource for finding a Casita. The members are great at sharing ideas and experiences on how to make it your own. We already have plans for modifying ours from suggestions found on this site. FYI: so as not to confuse anyone Ruth (Carefree 2020) is my better half, we signed up as separate members in our search to find a unit not knowing the other had already joined.

Hi Lon --

How were the daytime temps while you were up there. I'd love to get out of Phoenix and go north, but that campground doesn't have hookups to run the AC, right?

Hi Eileen, Temps were in the high 70 down to low 60's. It did rain on and off which is typical during this season. The campground does have limited hookups but most are reserved way ahead. We did luck out and had electric one night (last minute cancel) but agreed to move to a non electric site the next day. We might try Prescott next. We welcome all suggestions for places to go in AZ.

This time of year, most places in AZ will require hookups for AC during the day. Getting away to high country during the summer seems like the perfect solution except you're bound to run into monsoon weather / thunderstorms.

I enjoy going to Lynx Lake in Prescott, but there are no hookups, so it's not a consideration between now and late September. There are other private RV parks there, but you'll pay $30+ a day.

I have a LOT of AZ campground suggestions, but not many for this time of year. Had hoped to get up to Mingus Mountain (near Cottonwood) but noticed that the temps there are getting up into the high 80s too. Without AC and high humidity, being in the trailer can become unbearable.

Monsoon is the best time to be up on "The Rim". I wait all year for it and am fixing to spend all August up there. I dry camp with Solar and a Honda 2000. The worst that can happen is you move your recliner to chase the shade until that Monsoon shower cools it down 20 degrees in just minutes. Aw, the smell of wet forest and booming thunder!. Hiking, berry picking and slow cooking. It is Heavon on earth!

We have a generator so hopefully that will help with the AC. We may try Prescott this weekend or next. We cant wait to go back out. I like the name of your Casita, Campnagle
