I guess it is all in what you expect and get used to as long as you are within certain safety parameters. Not everyone can purchase a vehicle strictly on its suitability to pull a Casita--some of us have other lives, too, that involve transporting Scout troops, grandchildren, and elderly parents.
So please everyone, do not get on here and tell me how inadequate my tow vehicle is. Instead of listening to all the automotive and structural engineers who post on this site, relax and just look at all the beautiful pictures Casita owners have posted on the forums and Facebook sites. And then after you look at the scenery, notice the vehicles in the pictures and ponder how they all managed to get their Casitas to those places with such a poor choice of a tow vehicle.

I am a loyal Toyota owner. I tow with a 1995 T100 that I bought new over 18 years ago. We just completed a 1,000 mile trip in it to buy our Casita. It has a 3.91 rear axle ratio and a 4 speed automatic trans. with elec. overdrive lockout. It is rated to tow 5,200 pounds. I have towed 5,000 pounds in the Ozarks in the summer with no problem. The 2013 Highlander V6 has more horsepower and torque than my truck's 3.4 V6.
Toyota lists the towing capacity of a 2013 Highkander with the 2.7 liter 4 cylinder at 1,500 pounds.
Toyota lists the towing capacity of a 2013 Highlander with the 3.5 liter 6 cylinder at 5,000 pounds.

Even a 16'deluxe is 2,185 pounds with a 255 hitch weight, way out of the league of the the 2.7 4-cyl. Highlander.
