I was on my way to Fort Griffin to do some astrophotography. I was at the fort for 6 nights and enjoyed the dark sky.

Hi Mark....TSP was fun but the weather was not the best this year. The locals liked it since they got some rain out of it. We had 4 usable nights which is not too bad. I was very comfortable in the Moonlight Manor and the 150 watt solar panels provided all the power I needed for the Casita and telescope equipment.Attached File  TSP-2013-sm.JPG   180KB   16 downloadsAttached File  Casita-TSP-3.JPG   173.72KB   15 downloads Wish you could have been there. I counted at least 6 other Casitas at TSP and Davis Mountain SP during the week. I am heading to the Rocky Mountain Star Stare RMSS in a couple weeks and Wes and I are talking about some trips to Ft Griffin at new moon in July and August. When do you go to Utah? I need to get your input since I have Utah on my "bucket list" of future trips.

I'm leaving for Utah on Thursday May 30th, ONE WEEK FROM TODAY !!!!!!!!1
Will spend the week after in Moab. After that, I've no plans except to enjoy the second half of the vacation, camp a little, drive a little, sight - see a little, and hope everyone at work, works their hind ends off.
I can't wait to talk Utah with you, it may be my favorite state, cetainly for the next couple of weeks anyhow.

We will be on the road at about the same time. I leave for RMSS near Gardner, CO on the 3rd and will return home around the 10th. I am hoping for good weather.

We do need to get together to talk Utah and Casita life maybe after you get back.

BTW...Have you come up with anything new for getting internet while traveling?

I just got back from the Rocky Mountain Star Stare (RMSS) up in Colorado. I was very comfortable boon-docking in the Moonlight Manor and I had many people drop by to talk about my Casita and observatory shelter. Many were impressed that I could cook, eat, sleep and shower in such a small space without the need for a noisy generator. The Casita has been the best piece of "astro-gear" I have bought in a long time.

I'm with you on Casita Astro Gear. For internet, I purchased a Wilson Antenna, a 20 ft coax cable, and a Verizon 4G LTE jetpack that one can plug an antenna cable into, plus an adapter cable for the Verizon Jetpack to connect to the 20 foot coax.
While at Black Canyon of the Gunnison Nat'l Park, I kept getting knocked off line, ( the unwanted "goodbye" .wav file from AOL). So I plugged up the Antenna and never got knocked off again.

While at Mesa Verde Morefield campground, connecting the antenna also prevented my sessions from being knocked off.

While parked/camped at other places during my trip, I had such a strong Verizon signal, I didn't need to connect the antenna.
Verizon works much better than my old/slow AT&T wireless device.
