March 23-24, Informal gathering in Eastern North Carolina near the beach at Cedar Point Campground, Crotan N F near Cape Carteret, NC

This is a very informal gathering for folks who just like to get together and camp near the beach. We have no planned activities, unless you want to suggest a place to have dinner together Saturday evening.

We have reserved site 30 and would appreciate a feedback as to who will be attending.

Located on the White Oak River a mile north of Cape Carteret (follow the signs from N.C. 58), off N.C. Hwy. 58 to VFW Rd. 153 This campground is in the Croatan National Forest . The campground offers 40 camping units with electrical hookups, a bathhouse with flush toilets and warm showers, drinking water and a shallow boat ramp. A fee of $17, for an electrical hook-up, They also allow you to use the Golden Age Pass which will be half off. This NFS campground is one big loop with very large back-ins with 30 amp power. Central water and dump. It is located on the sound side. The campground is 4 miles from some accessible public Emerald Isle Atlantic Ocean beaches. It is also is within 3 miles of the Intracoastal Waterway and is an exceptional base camp for canoeing and kayaking. Each camp site has a lantern pole. This is a fantastic area for bird watching, hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, shopping, and restaurants. Lots to see and do or just relax.

The Casita has been washed, new plumbing under the sink, thanks to Larry Gamble's detailed directions, brakes checked, de-winterized, tires checked, Tundra serviced and packed. Five months is way to long to just have our Casita sit and not be on the road to someplace. Now we finally are just counting the days till we head out for the beach gathering and visiting with some old and many new friends. We are feeling like this is the maiden voyage of the new year. It is sort of the trial trip before we venture out for some long chartered one that has been in the planning.

Friday evening we are having a group social so bring your own beverage (wine, beer, soda) and a snack to share. NOTE: With that said, remember most State and Federal campgrounds have the policy of No Alcohol. As long as we are discreet and don't flaunt it most places will leave you alone. So the bottom line is, don't carry naked.

Ken and Colin have offered to bring wood for a camp fire Friday evening. Saturday evening we all are heading to The Icehouse for dinner. Laurie has already made reservations for our group on Saturday at 5:30. Laurie will have a menu for us to look at but you also can check it out on line. http://www.icehouses...c.com/Menu.html

Safe travels to everyone.

Don't forget before you park your trailer to stop at the water pump to fill your fresh water tank if you travel with it empty.

Wine, campfires, beach, camping, socials, Casitas = good. 870 miles away = bad.

Looking forward to a recapitulation.

Wish we could make this trip but had already promised my nephew I would come to his birthday party this Saturday. We would much rather be camping. Have fun!
