I put a paper towel roll holder in what seemed like a great spot until I had it done, and then started thinking about the heat from the stove burners. It is mounted on the right hand side of the stove hood.

Any experience out there with this location? It seems like I may have created a fire hazard.

Ours is in exactly the same spot and we use the stove every trip. Heat on the paper towels is not an issue. What I would suggest is securing the roll with a small bungie when you're on the road. Before we made this a habit we had the whole roll unspool several times while driving.

Did you attach it with screws or the 3M tape?

We have had our paper towels mounted there for many years. We have not had any problems
with the proximity of the stove. We use the middle of a 2 liter bottle to keep the towels
from unrolling while traveling or in a breeze while parked.

I have even become fairly proficient at tearing off a sheet with the "keeper" in place!

I worked on little fish boats for many years in Alaska. Here is the standard boat trick for paper towels. Just a little piece of chain with a weight attached. Nothing more troublesome than to have a whole roll of towels unfurl on you.

Drilled two holes,, used small screws, washers and nuts.

And thanks for the tip everyone. I am sure I would have had my first roll unraveled when I got there.

Like you I was concerned about a fire problem near open flame. Never read of anyone having an issue with where you mounted the paper towel holder.
We thought this spot over the empty cabinet would work. Just remember to put the paper towels away when moving. The towel fairy will unravel the towels from the roll..............

I did the same thing but stainless steel and attached with pop rivets.

Well we have tested the location and found it to be convenient, and problem free. We even tried running without securing the roll (forgot) and did not have an unraveled roll when we arrived.
