Don't know if this is classified as a "get together" but we are taking our first trip in our recently purchased 2000 17' SD and wonder if anyone else happens to be going the same way at the same time.
We are leaving the Vancouver, BC area Friday or Saturday morning and going via I5 to around Portland and then heading for the coast and 101 down to California. After that we'll make a decision to go on or go home :-)
Anyway it would be nice to have someone around that knows what this is all about.

Sorry, since we are in Santa Fe NM now we won't be camping on the coast. A word of advice about your route, though. As former Seattle residents we strnogly advise that you not go through the south Tacoma and the Fort Lewis stretch of I5 during the afternoon rush hour, 4-6/30 pm. Traffic can be a real bear.

Happy trails,

Thanks for the tip! :-)
We are going to leave tomorrow (Friday) rather than Saturday as planned.
I see there is mixed snow/rain predicted for our area and northern Washington so want to get out and miss it.
We were expecting to be on the road over the weekend and hoped traffic would be lighter than M-F but looks like we would be right in the middle of it.
So, plan B will be to stop somewhere between Seattle and Tacoma for the night and head through Tacoma Saturday. The poopy weather is not due until late Sunday or Monday and hopefully we can get past Portland and heading to the coast be then.
Thanks again,
Richard & Carolyn

Heading south from Eugene tomorrow, but directly south on 5. Ditto escaping the weather. You'll do fine. My tip for first timers? Be very careful backing up. Think about how you'll get out of a place before you go in. Driveways, parking lots, dead-end streets, etc.
