Does anyone else have problems with their carbon monoxide detector that is mounted under the large dinette going off in the middle of the night? We keep our bed made up all the time but once the door is closed something sets off our detector about 2-3AM. We had to pull the fuse to prevent this and get a portable detector that we hung on the wall up a little higher. Does anyone know a fix for this problem or is it the detector that is bad? It has done this since we got the trailer new in 2007. There's no problem with the air in the trailer or the other detector would go off.

Casitas do not come equipped with CO detectors. If you have one, either you or the previous owner added it.

What you're referring to is the LP (propane) detector, and, yes, there have been numerous conversations about it going off irregularly, even when the gas hasn't been turned on at the tanks. Do a search for "propane detector" and you should come up with a bunch of threads. Here's one.

An LP detector should always be located close to the floor since that's where the gas accumulates.

This website has some useful info on locating CO (actually carbon monoxide) detectors. It seems like each manufacturer has their own recommendations for placement but they are generally less picky about location since CO mixes freely with air. It does not sink like propane, nor rise like smoke.

(Oops - I forgot to paste in the link. Here it is:)

I purchased a two pack of CO units at Home Depot a couple of months ago. They are small and battery operated.
I put one in my Casita and the other in the hall way next to my thermostat for my a/c unit.
My casita didn't have a CO detector. It did have a smoke det. but it finally needed a new battery. I just replaced it with a unit that
has a built in light and two 9 volt batteries that I got at Home Depot also.
Hope you are able to get this problem resolved quickly. I know the sound of that going off during the night must be very nerve racking???
Happy Camping
