Hi Casita Friends,

Just thinking and sending out feelers. Someone said I should consider the 47th Annual Buffalo Roundup for my bucket list so I thought " why NOT." Check out Buffalo Roundup South Dakota on Google and see what ya'll think. I'm game if I can get some others interested. Maybe some of you guys from up my way like Colorado Kathy, Earnie, and Jim, and, and, well you know who you are! Hey, they even have a chili cook-off the day before the 1,300 buffalo come thundering over the hill. Think about it!

Get'em up,,Head'em out,

We plan on being in Yellowstone about a week before and then doing a great circle through the Northern tier of States, before retreating South, to hopefully avoid the wintery weather the end of October beginning of November.

The Buffalo Roundup sounds great. Chili in South Dakota? I'm still learning about chili in Texas. No beans!!!! Please put us down as anxious to attend and meet some folks from the North.

Welcome Chuck and Sheryl,

We have 5 interested from the other forum and you make 3 from this forum. Sound like the trip is firming up. Go to SD State Parks, Custer SP for all the info. It looks to be a super fun 3 days.

Oscar the Smiley Dog's great, great, great Uncle Whisker Britches told him about the thrill of a buffalo roundup. He'd love to join in and round up a few thousand head of buffalo burgers on the hoof. Count us in! Perhaps Foxy will help Oscar with the roundup. Wooohooo!

It will be wonderful to have you long Pete and Oscar dog too. I have a feeling Foxy will turn tail and run at first sight of those burgers on the hoof! See you in Matagorda!

Judy Colorado

I'm trying a dry run at making reservations on 1/2/12. We will be at sea on a cruise, but I will be able to make an internet connection. The quicker the better. In what campground should we consider making reservations? Am I correct that it can be done online as well as by phone? Full hookups are usually preferred, but we have a generator and could last from Thursday to Tuesday without. I don't know about the others who wish to come.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Obviously I goofed up! However, Welcome to the Roundup. You will need to register at Blue Bell Campground in Custer State Park and Yes you can do that on line. Just go to www.gfp.sd.gov and go to Custer STate Park and all the information about the Roundup and registration is right there. Go on to campgrounds and choose Blue Bell and you can actually see pictures of the site you choose. All major events seem to be on the 22 - 24th of Sept. Sounds like fun to me. I plan to arrive the 21 and leave the 25. So glad you will join us.

Thanks Judy

That's exactly the info I need to be prepared to make a quick blast on the internet and make our reservations while at sea. We currently plan to arrive on the 20th and leave on the 25th. It sounds like a fantastic time. Thanks for alerting us to this event. This really sounds like fun.

We will be attending an event in Yellowstone, called Roosevelt Rendezvous. It begins 9/15 and ends the morning of 9/19. If anyone is interested, go to
http://www.yellowsto...ail.aspx?cid=59

I need to learn how to add a link. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

Judy: Hope we have the opportunity to meet with you sometime during the Roundup events. We appreciate you bringing this event to our attention and having the opportunity to attend. We, as well as some other Casita folks are making reservations at Game Lodge in the park. It is a larger campground and has a dump station as well as within walking distance to the art festival. All sites except for tent sites have electric and water needs to be portable from within the campground. State Game also has laundry facilities for those of us that are going to be on the road more than a few days. We spoke to the campground host and she suggests State Game Lodge would be a good fit for our needs. She also said that parking was very hard to find during the arts festival so walking distance sounded good. State Game Campground is located on the east entrance and next to the Custer State Park Welcome Center.

Game Lodge can be viewed at:

Hello RoundUp Friends,

Sorry I have been out of touch. I left La Veta, CO on Sun the 20th. That evening when I camped in Dumas, TX (home of the Ding Dong Daddies) City Park and attempted to access the internet I found that I no longer had that part of my "package" on Verizon. Oh yea! Finally, when I reached McKinny,TX three days later and at 52min 32sec call to Verizon my internet package was restored. Now I am once again "tethered" to my computer and in contact with the world!

OK, this notice constitutes an official change in campsites from Blue Bell to Game LOdge campsite in Custer State Park, SD. After info kindly provided by RX, Game Lodge seems to be the better choice. So, Chuck and Sheryl take heed and be sure to make res for Game Lodge. Thanks RX for all of your research on this. Hope to see lots of Casita people there. Remember, reservations begin on Jan. 2, 2012.

Happy Holidays,
Judy
