Hard to believe, but this will be the 5th Quartzsite Gathering, February 10/11/12, 2012. George & Betty and Doug & Michelle will be the hosts for the event.

George & Betty will be there a few days early, arriving on Wednesday morning, February 8th. There is always a bunch of fiberglass trailers already there when we arrive.

Where: Same as always, Dome Rock area, Quartzsite, Arizona. Aprox 5 miles west of Quartzsite on I-10, south side of highway, next to the frontage road.

Camping: Dry camping (no facilities) on hard packed dirt. Market, water and dump station are all located in Quartzsite, 5 miles to the east.

Campfires: Campfires are allowed. Please bring some firewood if you can. As usual we will have a central firepit.

Pets: All pets must be kept on a leash while within the camp area. You are responsible for cleanup and disposal of your pets waste.

Registration: No registration is required for the event itself, however a BLM permit must be obtained and displayed on your trailer. These are available free of charge from the BLM host trailer located a mile or two from town on the frontage road.

Soup Thing: If everyone would bring a can of soup (Not cream style) they are poured into a couple of large pots and shared with everyone on Saturday afternoon.

Wine Tasting: Anyone wishing to participate in the wine tasting on Saturday, please bring a bottle of wine (Red or White, your choice
This will be an open tasting where bottles are not covered.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone - old friends and new.

There is not much to add to Georges posting about the upcoming Quartzsite Gathering except that it has been a lot of fun over the years! Co-hosting it has been an enjoyable experience and we have made many friends in the process! The original Idea was not ours but we ran with it. The Soup thing was Mary Ellens Idea and the Wine tasting was borrowed from The Lake Casitas Gathering along with the previous host Rosemary Rizzo. Thank you both. For 2012 the Wine Tasting hosts will be Mike and Michelle! Even though the big Gem Show ends in January there are still oodles of vendors in Quartzsite during February. So if you want to come out and enjoy Flea Markets, Impromptu Potlucks, Soup Thing, Wine Tasting, Fireside socializing and Desert boondock style camping, come on out and join us! To all of you who have participated in the past, Thanks and hope to see you there again! Douglas Knudson

Hi George Hi Doug. Febuary is looking good...And we don't mind missing the crowds of the mineral and gem shows. Just as long as the ice cream shop is open I'm a happy guy.

YES!
On Phoebe and my planning callender. The lack of commitment and registration really works for me.

Can of Soup? Check! Bottle of wine? As I usually carry a "BOX" of wine, now I have to go find a dratted bottle to haul around. Sigh ... There are worse problems in the world.

Heading west into California afterward, may stop at Desert Center/Lake Tamarisk or Chiriaco Summit or Joshua Tree. May head down toward Slab City for a short while. Probably head for San Diego and then work my way up the coast 'till it's time to head for Green Eggs and Ham. Really glad I don't have a day job.

Lane and Phoebe, the Poodle Girl who doesn't understand even the basic concept of "JOB".

Here's a Google Map that zeros in on the exact spot where the Quartzsite Gathering will be (Dome Rock):

http://tinyurl.com/8xgfybt

Click on AZ - Quartzsite Fiberglass Gathering in the left sidebar and a white box will pop up.

Click on more (down arrow) and then on Zoom here.

GPS Coordinates: GPS: 33.643617,-114.304752

Yep, it's in the middle of the desert.

Well, the gathering will start in just a few days. Some reminders for the event

As usual, we will hand out nametags for those that need them along with greetings to the event.

Any firewood you might have would be appreciated for the central campfire.

Saturday Afternoon: Please bring a can of soup (Not cream style or condensed) and join us for the "Soup Thing". It all gets dumped into a couple of pots and shared with everyone. Please bring your own soup bowl and spoon. This will be followed by the "Wine Tasting", Those that would like to participate, just bring a bottle of wine (red or white) to share. Anyone that would like to bring snacks to share, that would be great.

All pets must be kept on a leash or in an enclosure while within the camp area. You are responsible for clean up and sanitary disposal of your pets waste.

Looking forward to seeing all our old and new friends again. See you there.
