My first summer camping ... can't find any COE or State park in TX, OK, or AR for July 4 except first come. I guess I've waited too late to make a reservation. Suggestions for private campgrounds 3-4 hrs from Longview TX ... not metro area.

I am posting a link for you to SANDY CREEK (TX), TOWN BLUFF DAM B, TX. They still have several sites open. We stayed there a few weeks ago and it was beautiful. I know site #25 is nice. It is open and has a beautiful view of the lake, which is full. You can fish from your campsite. Number 16 and 17 are also nice and are closer to the fishing pier. This park is kept up really good and has clean bathrooms with nice showers. Plenty of room for the sites and even though there was a burn ban, they did allow small fires when we were there. It looks like it is only about 2 1/2 hours from longview, and unlike state parks, you can reserve a specific site and it will be waiting when you get there. Super nice staff also.
