Looking at all of the photos again makes me want to go back to Joshua Tree. So many great hikes and places to visit.
I won't be able to organize anything for 2014 since I'll be taking 10 days of vacation time (I still work) to host the "Casitas in Lajitas" Rally in Texas in January, but there may be others who'd be interested in getting together at Joshua Tree NP in early February before moving on to the Quartzsite Rally.
As a sidenote, it was sunny...but cold and windy while we were there. If you go that time of year, bring warm clothes.

OMG I love reading all of these plans to go here and there and meet up and whatever.
Last trip my sweetie and I took was 2 yrs ago from our home in Mendocino CA to Phoenix (Tempe) AZ to visit her Mom (in our 16' Casita SD). What a great trip!
I/we have no idea what's involved in these rallys/meet-ups whatever you call them but it sounds like fun! We always seem to seek out very remote spots for our camp-outs, rugged compound-low 4wheel drive roads (Toyota 4Runner tow vehicle) and have only done a few campgrounds (Joshua Tree) but we're willing to fit in.
Is anyone welcome?

We are planning an informal gathering at Death Valley from Feb 10-14, 2015 and everyone is welcome.

Amazing - My last night in Death Valley is February 10. I'll be at Furnace Creek - on the 11th I'm headed out to boondock in the Alabama Hills. You'll see me in my brand new 17 SD.
Oops! Looks like you're a year off on the dates. That gathering was this Last Feb. Enjoy your trip. It's a beautiful place.

Um - that's embarrassing - of course I checked for my mail 4 times on Columbus Day getting more & more upset with the USPS until I realized they don't deliver that day. This getting older ain't for cowards.
Well, anyway, I'm going to Death Valley in February 2016. Lol

This may be helpful on your trip to DVNP. Hope El Nino yields a bumper crop of flowers. When (s)he's good (s)he's very, very, very good.
I may go too; will be checking above site for sightings reports to decide if and when.
Enjoy. It's all good.

The damage to Scottie's must be substantial - the Rangers told me it will be at least a year before it can re-open.

Thanks for the kind message. It took the edge off my chagrin (a little). I love the DesertUSA website but hadn't wandered into the wildflower reports- how cool is that? Great tip- appreciated.
