I just replaced our 857s on this last trip. We were camping on our land in SE Arizona and I noticed that the drivers side trailer tire was low. Twenty pounds low! While I was pumping it up, I inspected it. I found a cut with fuzz sticking out. I poured water on it but it did not bubble. Further inspection revealed several cracks with the steel belts visible. The other tire had some UV cracking but it looked fine.
They were at 25,000 miles and a little over two years on the axle. I didn't check the date code.
I called Discount Tire in Sierra Vista and the closest thing they had, without ordering, were Greenball Load Cs. We had to get back to L.A. so they are our shoes for the time being.
I have no complaints on the Khumos since we camp exclusively in very rugged areas and were very rough on them.
I admit I'm a bit uneasy with having load Cs back on the Casita, though.

As erratic as tires are, the Greenball's will probably last for several years and many miles - just because you don't expect them to

Well, we went to pick up the Pod yesterday morning and the new Greenball driver side tire was flat. I put the Goodyear spare on and brought it home. I re-inflated it and tossed it into the hot tub. The Khumo tire that I replaced in Arizona was not leaking...the rim was!
So, I'm using this opportunity to switch to 15" rims and Maxxis tires.
The Greenballs only have 550 miles on them, but I'll put them on our utility trailer in AZ.
