With a sigh of relief, 4,200 miles later we pulled into the driveway and the Egg Motel said "my tires hurt".

Plodding along at 60 mph (what a drag), keeping the tire pressure at 55 and thinking lots of good thoughts the 4 year old OEM Goodyear ST Marathons failed to fail! A new set of 15 inch wheels and load range D, LT tires are on order. The Goodyears will go back onto the utility trailer for more trips around the yard.

The Scrambled Egg meet was fun, not sure about the final count - close to 30. There were two other Casitas there so we didn't end up being all alone!.

Did a swing visit through Iowa. That was the final lower 48 that the PIC had not visited - so that part of the bucket list is complete.

Now just enough time to restock and get ready for a trip to GA - might not even have time for any mods - well maybe just one!

As promised/threatened (you choose), I upgraded to 15" wheels and new tires. Tires are Continental Vanco-8 205/70R 15C 106/104R, Load range D, max load 2,095 @ 65 psi. You can see a pictorial comparison of these tires with Kumho and Goodyear Marathon ST tires at:

Did not have time to 'wait for the boat to arrive' to buy another set of Kumho tires so did what I should have done in the first place a couple of years ago - move up to 15" wheels. This gives me a large selection of load range D tires to choose from including a few commercial lines such as Continental. Now there are no driving restrictions (such as 60-65 mph on ST tires) for our fast approaching trip to the SE.

Did not think I would get to do any mods on this quick stop at the house but did manage to sneak in a couple - take a look at a couple of new cameras at:

Ok that will do it, gotta pack up the egg - no more mods till September - I promise - trust me.

Don.....
I alway enjoy looking at your mods and write-ups. I really like the way your new 15" tires are actually a lower profile than the Kumho's. Let us know how you like them after putting some miles on them.
Good job on the camera also.

I made my decision on replacement tires for my blown out Kumhos. I upgraded to 15" wheels and bought the Maxxis M8008.

Wow Pedal
sorry to hear
i run kumhos--so far so good, but only 55 psi and about 60 mph. I hope I don't have the same problem.
I may have missed it---was it tires going in lots of pieces or peeling of tread or bad metal...etc?
best

Peeling of tread. Kumho has the the tire that blew first evaluating it.
