Yes, your right. We have wanted to try to go after scallops for a few years now but never made it. We are new comers to Casita and would like to get to attend some Egg events here in Florida. We are From Ocala. If you get something going let us know please.

Buckshot there is a thread in the Casita Forum, just under the new member area that is called Florida Rondevoux which is discussing a Casita Get together at Highlands Hammock State Park, in Sebring, FL Dec. 29, 2011 thru Jan 4, 2012. This is probably 125 to 150 miles S. of Ocala. There are still some open sites at this time but usually winter time fills up quickly.

Thank you, We attended last years event but stayed at a local motel. We spent time with a number of folks who were kind enough to show us their eggs. We have since aquired a 2002 Casita 17'Freedom. We will make it down for the event.

Although they are hard to find, there are some nice non-state campgrounds (not RV parks, but real campgrounds) that usually have more availability during the winter months. Check out Otter Springs in Gilchrist County (Trenton, FL). Nice sites with full hookups, beautiful campground, even has an indoor heated swimming pool. They also have a large Lodge building you can rent as a group for dinners, etc. www.ottersprings.com We've camped there several times, and it's pretty easy to get to.

Some FL folks are getting together at Stephen Foster Cultural State Park, Dec. 3-7. That gets booked up very early because of their holiday light display so not sure about available camp sites. Another group of us are getting together at Ft. Pickens up near Pensacola over New Years. I'll be arriving there Dec. 27 and leaving Jan. 4. That is a federal park so very reasonable if you have the Sr. pass. It is mentioned on casitaforum.com under "other rallies".

If anyone is interested: St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park, Port St. Joe, FL December 28 thru Jan 1st. Very informal but lots of sites available. We'll be in the loop at Site 6. The town of Port St. Joe is supposedly running a shuttle New Year's Eve to Mexico Beach so everyone can celebrate the New Year in the Eastern time zone then in the Central! Two for one!!! There are more than 20 sites available. Just a suggestion. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Also a gathering at Ft. Pickens, near Pensacola, over New Years. Some of us will be there around Dec. 27 and staying until Jan. 4. This is on National seashore land so the Fed. senior pass works.

Some of us will again be at Ft. Pickens off Pensacola, it is a National Seashore Park, over New Years, 2013-14, then some of us are headed south to Flamingo Campground in Everglades NP. I'll be there for 2 weeks starting Jan. 7.

Outstanding fishing at the tip of Florida. I would certainly like to go and take my kayak.

If you're really interested I've heard that the Flamingo campground is getting booked up quickly. We've all made reservations in the section with electric hookups.

We live over on the west coast near Cape Coral. . . JEAN... if you were in Pensacola last year with RAY, where were you camped at (Site) we were in 23... Two down from the Chili Dump ! ! ! lol See YOU in Flamingo..

Yes, I was at Pensacola last year. Left early cause it was so cold. I was on site 20 I think, just 1 or 2 trailers over from Bob & Pat. Looking forward to seeing you in Flamingo, we're expect about 8 rigs there. Should be fun.
